Our lessons

A familiar shape, adapted to you

  1. Settle in and set the aim

A warm-up to get thinking, a quick look back at last week, and a clear aim for today’s lesson.

  2. Learn something new

New ideas explained and modelled step by step, building on what the learner already knows.

  3. Practise it their way

Guided practice through games, projects, websites or real texts they enjoy. Support steps back as their confidence grows.

  4. Review and refine

We reflect on the work we’ve done together, assess feedback, and make the changes that really reinforce the purpose of what we’re learning.

Weekly reports

Your tutor writes you a report every week, in their own words, and our founder reads every one.

Each report covers:

  • What we worked on What we did, and why it matters for the learner. Example: "We used the maths behind a drinks can, its circumference and height, to design a label that fits it."
  • What stood out A specific moment of progress, so it gets noticed. Example: "She beat me at our word game for the first time, a sign her spelling and word recognition are getting quicker."
  • We'll keep working at The skills we'll keep practising over the coming weeks. Example: "Turning what he understands into answers that match the exact exam question, using past papers and mark schemes."
  • The plan for next session What comes next, so nothing is a surprise. Example: "Drafting and publishing a short review of a film she loved on her own website, then editing it together."

You always know what's happening and why, and we adjust the plan each week.
